March 6, 2024Google Cutting Free Web Sites Used By Thousands Of Small Businesses
It has been reported that Google is winding down web sites created as part of Google Business Profiles.
The basic, templated web sites featured bare bones content such as a couple of photos, location map, reviews, hours of operation and contact information.
They were utilized by hundreds of thousands of small businesses who have not previously invested in their own hosted web sites.
The free Google Business Profiles web sites have reportedly already been taken down. The URLs previously associated with these sites will temporarily redirect back to the business' profile page but will eventually return a "page not found" error.

Google Business Profiles Are Not Going Anywhere
Do not be alarmed.
Google Business Profiles are a great and wildly effective (if used correctly) tool for any small business. Free web sites were only a small part of what is/was offered as part of Google Business.
